Nearly all of the plot takes place in Lumiiryn the capital city of Lumiir. Lumiir is the most powerful nation on the planet of Iythara, largely due to their scientific advancements in bioluminescent technology and space travel.
The gameplay begins 20 years after the Atrocity. Though Lumiir’s structures are scarred with the remnants of this destruction, the resilient citizens have rebuilt their flourishing, vibrant communities and strengthened their defense.

Distant, Yet Familiar
The royal family of Lumiir chose Earth as Aer’s safe haven because of the similarities shared between its people, land, and culture. Aer finds the similarities uncanny, reminding her of Earth while at the same time feeling completely alien.
Center of Commerce
Lumiir is the birthplace of ISTS, providing quick travel from the planet of Iythara to any other planet within the solar system. As a result, the Lumiiryan language was adopted as the common trade language around the planet and beyond.
Beyond the Horizon
While the game focuses on Lumiir, Aer may occasionally interact with NPCs from other Iytharan nations (Tanuu, Oloryan, and Rytha) or even visitors from nearby planets.
Lumiir is a nation known for its technological superiority, harnessing the power of bioluminescent light in nearly every industry from medicine to space travel. Although Lumiir was heavily damaged during the Atrocity, the nation’s position as the center of travel and trade in the local solar system allowed the economy to recover quickly.

Earth is an incredibly distant planet from Iythara, leading the royal family and MurAlde to believe it would be a safe place to keep Aer’s spirit away from the Soundless.
Earth only appears in short scenes, including Aer’s dreams and in one of the five possible endings. Olivia (Aer) and the rest of the Wynn family lived in a small beach town where bioluminescent algae (dinoflagellate) are known to light up the beaches at night during certain seasons.
Other than the Soundless themselves and one ill-fated MurAlde test subject, no one has ever seen this planet.
Since Soundless are completely silent, it is assumed that sound waves do not travel through their planet’s atmosphere in the same ways they do on Iythara (or Earth, for that matter).
